Privacy
Cost & Benefits is a free guide. We save a short anonymous note when you check benefits or compare two places. We do not ask for your name.
What we save
- How many people are in the home.
- A pay range, such as $35,000 to $49,999. Not the exact dollar amount you typed.
- Your state. On a comparison, the towns or cities you opened, and the county when we know it.
- Age ranges, such as 5 to 17 or 65 and older. Not a birthday and not an exact age.
- Simple answers about work, a joint tax return, renting or owning, and energy bills.
- Which programs came back likely, maybe, or unlikely. For Medicaid, that result is all we save.
- A random visit number, the time, the page, and the site that sent you. We drop the long query string from that link.
What we do not save
No name. No email. No IP address. No exact home address. No full browser name. No exact pay. No birthday. No pregnancy, disability, or other medical details. Those answers can change the estimate on your screen, and then they stay off the saved note.
Why
We use the notes to improve the site and to publish totals, such as how many checks in a state looked likely for SNAP. We do not sell this data. We do not use it to approve or deny benefits.
Cookies and visits
The random visit number sits in this browser until you close the tab. It is not an account. Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights count page visits and measure speed. They do not receive your benefit answers. We do not run advertising cookies.
The benefit form also keeps a copy in this browser so a refresh does not wipe what you typed. The newsletter box does not save an email address.
