How many hours?
The December 8, 2025 CMS bulletin says 80 hours a month of work, community service, a work program, or a mix. Half-time school can also count. The same bulletin's wage example is $7.25 times 80 hours, which is $580 in a month.
How to report
Tell the state Medicaid office. CMS does not publish one national form. Watch your mail. If the state asks for proof, the June 1, 2026 fact sheet says you get 30 days. Do not type a login, a Medicaid ID, or a card number on this website.

42 CFR 435.559 sets the national date at January 1, 2027. A state may start sooner, or ask CMS for a good-faith delay that cannot run past December 31, 2028. We did not verify an early start or a delay for South Carolina. The only early start we verified is Nebraska.
CMS says the rule does not apply in a state that has not adopted the adult group and does not cover adults through a qualifying waiver plan. We did not verify a waiver plan for South Carolina.
