Medicaid work requirements 2027 in Wyoming

Medicaid work requirements in Wyoming start January 1, 2027. Nebraska is the only early start we verified, on May 1, 2026. The rule covers many adults in the expansion group. Children, pregnancy, and some caregivers are exempt. We do not guess another state's early date. This site does not approve or deny benefits.

Do you have Medicare?
Do you care for a child age 13 or younger, or for a person with a disability?
Do you have a serious health limit, a disability, or a substance use disorder?

Are you under 26 and did you age out of foster care?
Are you a veteran with a total disability rating?
Are you in a drug or alcohol treatment program?
Are you in jail, or were you released in the last 90 days?
Do you already have about 80 hours a month, half-time school, or at least $580 from work in a month?

Simple answer

Type an age to see the rule.

The CMS fact sheet covers non-pregnant adults ages 19 through 64 in the expansion group or in some waiver plans.

How many hours?

The December 8, 2025 CMS bulletin says 80 hours a month of work, community service, a work program, or a mix. Half-time school can also count. The same bulletin's wage example is $7.25 times 80 hours, which is $580 in a month.

How to report

Tell the state Medicaid office. CMS does not publish one national form. Watch your mail. If the state asks for proof, the June 1, 2026 fact sheet says you get 30 days. Do not type a login, a Medicaid ID, or a card number on this website.

Expansion and start date

Wyoming has not adopted the adult expansion in the KFF tracker.

42 CFR 435.559 sets the national date at January 1, 2027. A state may start sooner, or ask CMS for a good-faith delay that cannot run past December 31, 2028. We did not verify an early start or a delay for Wyoming. The only early start we verified is Nebraska.

CMS says the rule does not apply in a state that has not adopted the adult group and does not cover adults through a qualifying waiver plan. We did not verify a waiver plan for Wyoming.
