Lost my SNAP in Pennsylvania? What to do
If food stamps (SNAP) stopped in Pennsylvania, read the letter for the reason and the deadline. You can ask for a fair hearing on a loss from the prior 90 days. We could not verify a different written deadline for this state. Use the date printed on your notice. This site does not approve or deny benefits.
Simple answer
Read the Pennsylvania letter, then ask for a hearing before the date it prints.
We could not verify a hearing deadline for this state that is different from the federal 90-day rule.
What do you need?
Pick one. We save that choice and the state. We do not ask whether you are a citizen, and we do not take a card number or a PIN.
Why SNAP stops
Work rules. The October 3, 2025 FNS memo says the 3-month time limit covers ages 18 through 64 unless an exception fits. The public USDA page says about 80 hours a month. Without those hours, SNAP can stop after 3 months in 3 years. County waivers are not guessed here. Check SNAP work rules in Pennsylvania. Memo page updated 2026-09-15. Last checked 2026-10-16.
Noncitizen rule. The FNS memo dated October 31, 2025 says the law changed on July 4, 2025. States use the new rule right away when someone applies for the first time. For a household already getting SNAP, the state applies the rule at renewal. The memo limits SNAP to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, Cuban and Haitian entrants, and Compact of Free Association citizens. Lawful permanent residents still face a 5-year wait unless an exception in that memo fits.
The public SNAP eligibility page still describes older noncitizen rules and says that page is being updated. We follow the memo. The memo file on usda.gov did not open on 2026-10-16. We read the Vermont legislature copy of the October 31, 2025 memo. The FNS memo page was updated 2026-02-26 and did not include the memo text.
Missed renewal or paperwork. If the certification period ends, benefits that were continued for a hearing stop, and the household may apply again. That sentence is in 7 CFR 273.15(k)(2)(i). We did not verify one national number of days to turn in a renewal. Use the date on your letter. If the letter says a paper is missing, send that paper to the SNAP office. Do not send a card number or a PIN to this website.
How to appeal
A fair hearing is the appeal. Federal rule: you may ask for a hearing on any state action, or on a loss of benefits, from the prior 90 days. During a certification period you may also ask for a hearing about the current benefit amount. Source: 7 CFR 273.15(g). Last checked 2026-10-16.
We could not verify a different written hearing deadline for Pennsylvania. Use the deadline printed on your notice. The button below opens the USDA state directory so you can find the office. It does not file the appeal on this website.
Can benefits continue?
Yes, if you ask within the time on the notice of adverse action and the certification period has not ended. Benefits stay at the amount from just before that notice, unless you say you do not want them to continue. If the form does not clearly give them up, the state treats continued benefits as wanted. If the state wins the hearing, it sets up a claim for the extra benefits. If you ask late, benefits change as the notice said, unless the state finds good cause. Source: 7 CFR 273.15(k)(1). Last checked 2026-10-16.
We did not re-read 7 CFR 273.13 on 2026-10-16, so we do not print a number of days for the notice. Use the date on your letter.
Who can reapply
The USDA eligibility page says you apply in the state where you currently live. A household whose certification period ended may apply again. We did not verify a separate reapplication form for Pennsylvania. Use the state directory, or the SNAP guide. Do not type a card number or a PIN here.
Where to get food now
These links do not put SNAP back on the card. Feeding America has a national food bank finder. We did not verify a separate finder just for Pennsylvania. 211 is the national site. We do not print a state 211 phone number.
