EBT card stolen in Louisiana: what to do
If an EBT card is stolen in Louisiana, change the PIN and call the number on the card. Federal replacement of stolen food stamps covers only October 1, 2022 through December 20, 2024. A later theft is outside that window. This page does not ask for the card number or the PIN. This site does not approve or deny benefits.
Simple answer
Change the PIN now. Then tell the SNAP office.
A theft on or after December 21, 2024 is not eligible for federal replacement. We never ask for the card number or the PIN.
What to do now
- 1. Change the PIN with the phone number printed on the card. Do it before the next deposit if you can.
- 2. Check the account for charges you did not make.
- 3. Tell the Louisiana SNAP office. USDA says the state will not call or text to ask for your PIN or card number.
- 4. Ask for a new card if someone copied the old one.
How to lock the card
We did not verify an official lock-card app or website for Louisiana on 2026-10-16. Use the phone number on the card, or ask the SNAP office to stop the card. Do not type the card number, the PIN, or a login on this page.

Skimming reimbursement
Federal funds can replace SNAP stolen from October 1, 2022 through December 20, 2024. A theft on or after December 21, 2024 is not eligible for federal replacement. A state may use its own money. USDA says there is no promise that state money will be paid back with federal funds.
We did not verify whether Louisiana still replaces newer thefts with state money. The September 2025 data file we opened counts old claims. It does not say who still pays.
