2027 Social Security and SSI payment dates
Social Security and SSI use set days each month. SSI is paid on the 1st, or earlier if that day is a weekend or federal holiday. January 2027 SSI is paid December 31, 2026. People who filed on or after May 1, 1997 are paid on a Wednesday based on a birthday.
January SSI
Paid Thursday, December 31, 2026.
SSA says the higher SSI amount starts with that payment because January 1 is a holiday.
How to read your day
- SSI is paid on the 1st of the benefit month, or earlier when that day is a weekend or federal holiday.
- Social Security is paid on the 3rd if you got it before May 1997, or if you also get SSI. That day also moves earlier for a weekend or holiday.
- If you filed on or after May 1, 1997, and you are not in that group, use the Wednesday that matches the birthday on the record.
An earlier date is marked. None of the 2027 Wednesday dates falls on a holiday in the OPM list, so those Wednesdays stay put. The 2027 calendar PDF did not open on 2026-10-22, so this list is calculated from the handbook and the OPM holiday list. SSA's own calendar is the payment record.
